IFA Anti-Doping Actions

Regarding doping tests att Europeans and World championships. Two of the tests carried out at the European championships in Poland in May have been reported positive, and are under due process. The athletes concerned will be published the that process is concluded and final decisions have been made.

During the doping tests at the World Championships in Dieppe France there was a case of evading the test. When called to give a test after the -95 kg podium Eirik Bjerkadal from Norway refused to come to the doping test official and left the building. When confronted with the consequence of his refusal, he recognized the pending full four year suspension and returned all medals and certificates. He was therefore immediatly removed from all results, and the suspension is immediately effective.

International Federation of Armwrestling declares that the following competitors with the positive result for the presence of prohibited substances during doping control on December 5, 2019 at the “IFA World Armwrestling Championships – Rumia, Poland 2019 were suspended from the competitor’s rights :

Tomasz Szewczyk for 4 years until 12/06/2023 (inclusive).

Marlena Wawrzyniak for 2 years, until 06-12-2021 (inclusive).

During the period of disqualification, the competitor can not participate in any role in the competition or carry out any activities approved or organized by the IFA organization, or in the competitions approved or organized by any professional league or any event organizer of international or national level or in any elite or national sporting activities funded by a government agency. At the same time, we would like to inform you that the competitors during the penalty period (in accordance with the guidelines and procedures adopted by the international organization IFA) are subject to the provisions of the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA and the World Anti-Doping Code adopted within its framework.
